A typical topic of discussion I will see in the forums related to AdSense is that the "stats are stuck." Stats are stuck in the AdSense community means that the earning reports have stalled and are either not updating or slowly updating. But when there is a real outage, publishers go nuts. I don't blame them, they make their money day to day from people clicking on their ads. And with all that smart pricing and AdSense banning going around, when a hiccup happens in the system, the publisher wonders if it is only them or others. So when there is an issue, they flock to the forums and complain. Always, always, I get tweets, emails and so forth from really concerned publishers if this is a wide spread issue. It almost always is.

In July 2011, just about a year ago, Google first started sending out notifications of unnatural links pointing to your web site. Then in March of this year, Google ramped up this notifications and tons of webmasters received them. It has been pretty quiet recently on this front, with only a few complaints per day in the forums about these notifications. But that all changed yesterday when tons of webmasters began receiving these notifications. We have threads in most of the forums but here are some select threads at Google Webmaster Help, Google+ and WebmasterWorld. Almost all of them plead innocence but the fact of the matter is, they received this notification and they most likely will see a downgrade in ranking within the week. Finally, after years and years of requests from Google AdSense publishers, Google announced you can now control user access to Google AdSense. Meaning, if you want to give your partner, developer or a friend or family member access to login to your Google AdSense account to see reports or manage ads, you no longer have to give them your Google Account username and password.

A Webmaster Help thread has Google stating the obvious, especially after the Penguin update - your links, to count and not hurt you, need to be 100% natural Links. What percentage of inorganic links you need to remove to probably have your inorganic link penalty removed.An inorganic link is based on a Webmaster Tools notification of a site buying or acquiring links in a none natural fashion. Many webmasters have been receiving them recently and many want to know how to reverse the action. We know these are manual penalties, at least if you received the webmaster tools notification. So you need to go through the inorganic links and do your best to get them removed. In the thread, the webmaster said he was able to remove 85% of the inorganic links and asked Google if that was a high enough percentage to submit a reconsideration request and for that request to be satisfied. Google has now confirmed there was a refresh on Friday night affected less than 1% of search queries. They said, "Panda data refresh started rolling out. Less than 1% of queries noticeably affected worldwide." We saw reports of this over the weekend and reported on those rumors. Google has confirmed there was an update. Over the weekend there was a large spike in webmaster and SEO chatter at WebmasterWorld around Google's shift in the search results.
